The Municipality of San Mateo hosted the celebration of World Environmental Health Day on September 26, highlighting the importance of a clean and sustainable environment for public health.
The Integrated Provincial Health Office, in partnership with the Health Promotion Unit of the Cagayan Valley–Center for Health Development and the San Mateo Super Health Center, successfully implemented the event, which emphasized the critical role of environmental conditions in promoting human health and sustainable development.
This year’s theme, “Clean Air, Healthy People,” underscored the community’s collective commitment to ensuring cleaner air and healthier living conditions for residents.
The program featured a presentation on the current status of environmental health-related indicators, including water, sanitation, and dengue management, delivered by representatives from the IPHO.
Atty. Gregorio A. Pua delivered a message of support, reinforcing the municipal government’s dedication to environmental health initiatives.
A poster-making and slogan contest were also held, with the winning entry, “Pure Air, Pure Care, Strong Lives, We All Can Share,” reflecting the community’s shared commitment to environmental stewardship.
The celebration concluded with a pledge and commitment signing, signaling participants’ personal and collective responsibility for maintaining a healthier environment. – Isabela PIO
